Pakistan’s Avg. 4G Speed got two points up from 11.67 Mbps in Nov 2017 to 13.56 Mbps in three months, as noted by OpenSignal in its Feb 2018 report. Despite of progress, Pakistan was ranked 79th out of 88 countries surveyed, the Nov-2017 report placed the country 70th out of 77 surveyed. Interestingly, Pakistan’s avg. 4G speed was also found to be more than double recorded in India which found itself at the bottom of rankings with 6.07 Mbps Avg. 4G speed. United States also appeared to have 16.31 Mps 4G Speed which is much below that of other developed countries. Report mentions Singapore to have the top LTE Speed in the world with an average of 44.31 Mbps strong download connection.
However, the most significant leap for Pakistan came in the area of 4G availability where in three months, Pakistan is reported to have made 69.08% geographical area covered which is up from 57% in Nov 2017. This growth has lifted Pakistan from bottom countries in the availability list to middle of the rankings, ahead of countries like Germany and Turkey that have 66% and 68% geographic coverage for 4G respectively. In comparison, India is among the top countries with 4G availability, having 86% geographical area covered. South Korea was on top of rankings with 97.5% geographical area covered. A total of 5 countries were reported to have over 90% coverage with US ranking on 5th.
OpenSignal is a London based company that specializes in wireless coverage mapping. The report claims to have analyzed 50 billion measurements collected in 4th quarter of 2017 to compare 4G performance in 88 countries.
